Melisa did an excellent work translating into Spanish the texts for the temporary exhibition “The Spirit of El Día de los Muertos” organized by the McClung Museum of Natural History and Culture (Knoxville, Tennessee). Since it was an exhibition based on active collaborations with different Latino/a/x and Hispanic communities living in Knoxville, it was crucial that the exhibition was completely bilingual (English and Spanish). Melisa also translated the press release, the brochure, and other similar texts related to the exhibition and associated programming
Melisa remained engaged with our needs, providing the translations within the timeline agreed. Being proficient both in English and Spanish, I can say that her translations were appropriate and accurate.

Melisa has been a pivotal team player in the launch of the Bilingual Initiative at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA. I truly believe that without her and her team, we would not have reached milestones, such as; creating PEM’s first Bilingual Promotional Newsletter, offering Bilingual access to our educational resources, and implementing translations into materials produced by other departments reaching broader audiences. In the last two years, Melisa has helped us fulfill all of our immediate and short-term goals for providing Spanish translations at a museum where there were previously few to no Spanish translations available. She has led us to a new phase where we can begin accomplishing the long-term goals we set for ourselves back in 2020, to provide greater accessibility to our local Spanish-speaking community members. The translations that Melisa has produced for PEM have been thoughtful, creative, and done with great intention and care. The work has always been consistent, on time, and delivered with great quality. Melisa has gained the trust and confidence of the various departments here at PEM that have worked with her directly to produce a wide range of projects. As a fellow Latina, working in the arts field, it is inspiring to witness another Latina invested and committed to taking big strides forward toward social change through collaboration with the work she does across museums and other institutions.

When we first connected on LinkedIn Melisa sent me a brief message introducing the services offered by her company. It was informative, relevant, brief and unobtrusive. The next time we needed translation services, a couple of years later, I still recalled that message. Working with her as been truly smooth as she and her team are readily available to clarify the few things that need clarification. They work quickly while holding an impressive quality standard, regardless of the nature of the articles sent to them. As well as being an excellent Spanish translator in her own right, Melisa has also managed complex multi-language projects for me for the photojournalism organisation Magnum Photos. Her experience in the cultural sector made her a perfect choice to lead the translation across our Magnum Learn online masterclasses, which are multiple hours long with contributors from around the world. Melisa’s experience meant she could translate industry specific art terms with ease herself while also coordinating a team of suitably experienced translators working across languages including Arabic, Norwegian, French, Dutch, Italian and Spanish. Melisa is very organised, always delivering on time and on budget and I would highly recommend her for any of your translation needs!
